Summary
A delayed update this month. I was on the road for the last two weeks and have just landed in Bangkok, where I’ll spend the next two months working in person with the Sendd team from the same office rather than remotely.
The headline for August is volume. Payment volume through Sendd stores went from $438 in July to $2,526 in August, and the average order went from $6.85 to $34.14. Two things drove it. Chemo Finds went live and is now selling stall bookings for their in-person market through their Sendd store, so the vendors who set up at that market are paying for the spot via Sendd. And existing customers picked up the events product to sell tickets for school events. Neither was a launch we ran. Both were customers finding the product does the thing they needed. It was also a big month for stores: 40 new in a month. As we improve the product and deliver on our promises to customers, the numbers get better across the board.
We shipped a lot in August. We set out in July to make a Sendd store look like a world class website with commerce at its core, rather than just a product grid, and that layer is now live. The Web Builder (V1), Customers (V1) and Custom Domains are live for every store. One store had already discovered and unlocked a custom domain organically before the month closed out.
My own store runs on store.adirajgupta.com over HTTPS, and every store can now sit on its own domain. Alongside it, stores can send email from their own domain, so marketing campaigns go out as the business rather than just order emails via Sendd. We charge $50 USD one-off for this, the same as Substack charges for a custom domain. Sendd carries a hard recurring cost to deliver it, so the one-off fee helps cover that. We want to stay true to our word and avoid charging any subscription fees to customers.
The Web Builder V1 is in every store under Layouts. A seller picks a starting point and customises it: Classic grid for a catalogue-heavy shop, Bakery landing for a food business that wants a single warm page with a nav bar, opening hours and what came out of the oven today, and Hotel landing for somewhere people stay, with a sticky nav, a full-height opening, amenities, rooms and the questions guests ask before they book. The hotel layout is the front of house; the booking engine behind it is the accommodation work still to come. More layouts follow, but the engine is the important thing. A Sendd store is no longer a product grid with a header. It is a website with commerce native underneath it.
It has been harder to build the commerce layer first than to take the traditional route of building a web builder and adding commerce later. But the two paths are not the same difficulty. For Webflow to become an e-commerce giant is a big uphill battle, because strong core commerce capability is, in my opinion, much harder to build than a pretty website. Making a pretty website is still hard, but it is easier going from commerce first and then making the pieces you already have look good. This is partly why Shopify won over the platforms that tried to tack commerce on later. The same is true for non-product commerce: hard to tack on later. That is why Sendd has been going vertical by vertical, and as we reach a strong level of product capability across verticals we can integrate the web builder horizontally and it lifts the experience across the board. That is much harder to do on a platform that started vertical-specific or web builder first.
Customers, Campaigns and Flows are live too. Every store now has a proper customer list with segments built in (VIPs, at-risk, new this month, event attendees) and a natural language filter builder on top: type “VIPs who haven’t ordered in 90 days” or “attended an event and spent over $100” and it builds the segment. Campaigns and Flows sit on the same data. This is the CRM and email layer we have been promising since June.
One thing moved to make room for all of that. Accommodation took a back seat to getting the web builder out, and Experiences went ahead of it in the queue. Experiences is in development now and goes live in September. We built out what a tour operator’s storefront looks like on Sendd first: Fergs Kayaks selling a harbour sunset paddle from their own domain, with availability, age bands, pre-checkout data collection, payment and ticketing handled underneath, the operator keeping the brand and the customer relationship, and Sendd taking 1%. Accommodation follows straight after, because it runs on the same availability engine inside Sendd. Build it once for experiences and rooms come along with it.
The full time engineering team and I have moved to Bangkok for September and October so the full time team is in one room. The goal for this period is simple: make the product 10x better. We know enough now, from eight months of customer insights and conversations, what makes Sendd loved and what gets in the way. These two months are about turning that into the product, so that when November rolls around we can put everything into sales and marketing with a product that sells itself.
What you can expect by the end of November:
Core product vertically complete and powerful for 99% of business types: services, products, experiences, accommodation, food and beverage. You will be able to run your core business and the adjacent parts of it natively on Sendd.
Web Builder V2 and V3, which should be significant step-ups in visuals and look and feel.
Rocky and the MCP wired into the web builder, so prompting can make changes and updates to your website the way you might with Lovable and similar tools.
Search, filtering, discovery and analytics all get a big step up.
Sendd Markets gets every new product type and bundles, plus layouts, custom domains and emails. This will be Sendd Market’s biggest upgrade yet.
A product that is bug free and stable. We are alert and active on fixing bugs and improvements, but we are also building rapidly, which means the risk of bugs showing up is greater. These two months are a line in the sand to make sure the product is in great shape to end the year on.

What Moved
Accommodation. Sits behind Experiences now, for the availability engine reason above.
The Good
Chemo Finds is live and transacting. September will be their second month, with recurring sales.
Sendd is a registered trade mark. IPONZ entered it on the register on 8 September, with the registration backdated to our 4 March filing. It covers the software itself, e-commerce and marketplace services, platform access and hosting, and AI development, which is everything we do and a fair bit of what we plan to. Technically a September win, but this update hadn’t gone out yet so it goes here. Sendd’s first NZ trade mark, and my first time doing a local filing myself.
The Sendd.store account is the channel. 19.2K of August’s 21.9K Sendd views came from the account Gleb runs. He and I banked a batch of content before we both left, him for Europe and me for Turkey, and that is what is going out through September.
The Bad
Burn went up. 11k against 7k in July, on full time engineering plus Bangkok accommodation and flights. It is a deliberate spend for two months, not a new baseline.
Founder content, again. I didn’t make much beyond the batch Gleb and I shot together before we both travelled. Struggling to fit everything into the day. Aim will be to fix this while in Bangkok.
Views fell again. 28.5K against 38.2K in July, and that is with Gleb’s account carrying almost all of it. The fix is the same as the founder content fix.
